Is That Magic Olive Oil, Or Are You Just That Good At Marketing?
I am a sucker for NV Perricone.Having approached, and passed, the vanity-smashing 4-0 I can confirm that yes, a woman's skin and hair start changing dramatically.
So, a couple of years ago I started using NV Perricone's 'Face Firming Activator'. I like it (improved skin tone), and should, for $130.
Then a couple of months ago I went to Nordstrom to buy more.
"Do you also use the olive-oil based 'Face Hydrator' and the 'Concentrated Restorative Cream?", I was asked?
No...I didn't know I was supposed to -!-?
Nothing quite like being told that you need more treatment than less; a very humbling experience.
So the saleslady felt sorry for me because I felt so overwhelmed.
I felt like I hadn't been buying the right treatment for my face, so she gave me 2 months' supply of each for free.
This would bring the NV Perricone regime up from 1 to 3; did I really need all this?
I started using the samples (1 for evening, the other for day in conjunction with the 1 I already used).
To my surprise, I noticed a difference (better skin tone, less clogged pores, more hydration), and so went to buy the 'olive - oil based 'Face Hydrator' today.
But, alas, wait, what is this next to it, the 'Face Finishing Moisturizer', and $25 less than 'Face Hydrator'?
So after getting squared away on the difference between the 2 ("well, the 'Face Hydrator' has olive oil, and the 'Face Finishing Moisturizer' doesn't), I went with the lesser in cost.
I didn't expect to see any changes when I started all this....but...I did.
NV Perricone works for me, and I won't be going back to less expensive brands I've tried in the past.
If you find treatment that works for you, especially as you get older, you have to ask yourself what the trade-off is if you decide to not buy for yourself what works.
One nice thing?
Most of the treatment products will provide you with samples to try out before you buy, so you can at least see if they make a difference for you before buying.
I wish I could have found something that was much cheaper, but that's not how it worked for me.

I find that when I spring for the higher cost facial care, I actually use it more often and more carefully, to get my money's worth. I like Lancome...it works for me, I like the smell:-), and I love the extra treats at bonus gift time.
sometimes I do a homemade facial - baking soda, a drop of baby oil and warm water. Mix it up like a paste and rub on my face!
I use erno laszlo, another high end line, and I LOVE the way my face looks. I wish I had discovered it way back when I was younger.
One plus I found is that when I'm pounced on by esthticians (sp?) who want to know what regime I use (so that they can disparage it and suggest THEIR line), and I tell them Erno Laszlo, they immediately shut up and back off.
heh. pricless.
